We are Alex and Linda, a Dutch couple with three children and a big love for Portugal.

After many vacations in this beautiful country, we took the plunge in 2024 and emigrated to the Douro Valley, in the north of Portugal. Here we live surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, and peace.

We know from experience how exciting – and sometimes stressful – emigrating can be. How do you find a trustworthy notary, what are the tax rules, how does the school system work, and which areas really match your lifestyle?

What we found most challenging was judging houses remotely. Often a house looks much better in photos than it actually is, or the surroundings are disappointing. We’ve driven long hours to get to houses that turned out to be unsuitable within a few minutes. That can be very frustrating, especially if you’re not living in Portugal yet.

That’s exactly why we started PortuVistas.

We help you gain insight, overview, and peace of mind by truly standing next to you. We visit homes for you, give honest advice, capture everything in professional video and drone images, and if desired, we offer complete on-site guidance during your search and emigration process.
